DESCRIPTION: WW - Vulcain Grand Prix, manual wind, 23mm x 32mm to lug tips, 16mm lug width, original 14K yellow gold snap back case with unusual stepped sides, engraved presentation on rear reads "Capt. O. F. Salvia From His Officers, U.S.S. Howard, 1945," vintage gray leather strap, refinished silvered dial with black painted numerals, 17J, s#188761, triple signed. Gross weight of assembled watch 13.1 dwt (20.4 g). Captain Salvia was one of the veterans who were interviewed by the Veteran's History Project established by the Library Of Congress in 2000 to preserve first hand accounts of wartime veterans. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, light oxide to steelwork, very light fine scratches to plates; excellent refinished dial with very light surface spotting; fine-plus blued steel hands, light loss of red paint to sweep hand; lightly polished case shows very little wear, strong engraved presentation detail to rear, no dents or dings; crown is worn out; plastic crystal with ample surface scratches.
